James Gary Coalson, of Carrollton Texas, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Gary was born August 5, 1937 in San Antonio, Texas. He grew up in Tyler, Texas and graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Gary worked for Gulf Oil, then Chevron, for over 35 years living in San Antonio, Texas, Little Rock, Arkansas, Shreveport, Louisiana, and Houston, Texas before retiring in Carrollton, Texas. He was a true handyman who loved projects of all kinds, be it typical household repairs, giant kite building/flying, or the more ambitious design and construction of a homemade pop-up camper. Gary loved Colorado, enjoying time fishing and tinkering in his alpine workshop. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who was devoted to his family. Gary led by example, a wonderful Christian man that was a light to all that knew him.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Maurine and Milton Coalson, and wife of 40 years, Gladene K. Coalson. Gary is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Sandie Coalson; daughters, Michelle Casey, Sherri (Rodger) Moore; sons, James (Beth) Coalson, Damon (Tamara) Coalson, Max (Heather) Proctor, Bryan (Michele) Proctor; sister, Sylvia Gorsuch; brother, Robert (Joyce) Coalson; grandchildren, Ashley Coalson, Jamie Coalson, Avery Coalson, Connor Coalson, Joshua Moore, Jacob Moore, Joseph Moore, Collin Proctor, Jarod Proctor, Blake Proctor, Bailey Proctor; great grandchildren, Luke Moore, Audrey Moore, and Abby Moore.
A memorial service will be held
Sunday January 10th at 2:00 pm
at the Walnut Hill church of Christ. Due to COVID-19 protocol, the church will be open to “immediate family only” and all are encouraged to use the link below to view the live stream of the service safely from their homes.
